Finding a Hobby

There are times when I just want to make something. I see so many cute ideas on Pinterest but don't always have the skills or resources to do them right.

I have started painting, and though I'm learning, it has been a relaxing hobby and that makes it even more worthwhile.

Who's that Girl?

I'm Valerie, an Indiana girl with California roots, happily married to my best friend and mother to 3 awesome kids that give me an excuse never to grow up. On any given day you can find me hiking a trail in my ballet flats, putting together outfits from my sister's closet, leading a troop of girl scouts on an adventure, or spending way too much time online.

I was an education major and now have the fun job of finding... a job. Even though teaching is my goal, I don't think that life is a series of boxes you need to check off in any particular order. Life is what happens when you're busy making plans, and I want to be sure to make the most of each opportunity rather than get fixated on a rigid plan. Don't get me wrong, I do have goals, dreams, and a bucket list, so I do have motivation and drive.

I have another blog Frugal Teacher Mama that has frugal tips, product reviews + giveaways, lesson plans, and parenting stuff.

This blog, is for me. I hope you enjoy coming along with me on this adventure.

Fashion Friday

I'm trying to come up with new looks using my current wardrobe. So far, it's fun.

It is finally cooler today (70s not 100s), so I could comfortably rock this look. The shirt is too flowy without the belt, and the cardigan helps pull the look together. I love how the ballet flats and belt coordinate as well. This is so comfortable but looks put together.

Shirt: Anthropologie
Belt: unknown
Sweater: Xhilaration by Target
Jeans: Old Navy
Ballet Flats: Old Navy

Bucket list #23

23. Run a 5K.

I was inspired by Kurt from Glee of all people to make a bucket list, though mine doesn't involve Taylor Lautner or relations in Meadows. I keep adding to it almost daily but I am finally checking things off my list as well.

Last week #23 was crossed off when I participated in The Color Run. I was so excited but also a bit nervous. I hadn't trained at all because of the hot as hell weather in the Midwest, but it was such a great experience. I ran way more than I thought I would and the motivation to get even more colors made me want to finish. If all 5Ks are this upbeat- sign me up!

Time warp.

Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong era. Then I realize I posted this with my iPhone and stop thinking that.

The Life Endeavor

The song that prompted this blog title was a turning point in my life. A slow turn, but I feel like I'm on the right path.

This blog will remind me that this life is an endeavor. Each day is a gift, but what I do with that gift is what counts.

Blog Inspriation.

You Can Still Be Free- Savage Garden

Cool breeze and autumn leaves
Slow motion daylight
A lone pair of watchful eyes
Oversee the living
Feel the presence all around
A tortured soul
A wound unhealing
No regrets or promises
The past is gone
But you can still be free
If time will set you free
Time now to spread your wings
To take to flight
The life endeavour
Aim for the burning sun
You're trapped inside
But you can still be free
If time will set you free
But it's a long long way to go

Keep moving way up high
You see the light
It shines forever
Sail through the crimson skies
The purest light
The light that sets you free
If time will set you free

Sail through the wind and rain tonight
You're free to fly tonight
And you can still be free
If time will set you free
And going higher than the mountain tops
And go high like the wind don't stop
And go high
Free to fly tonight
Free to fly tonight
